At the heart of Projet Bantu (ProBan) and its CPAAD centre lies an exciting story and strong values that guide our actions. In this article, we delve into the heart of our identity and discover how we are committed to driving profound change in our society.
Section 1: The birth of Projet Bantu
Projet Bantu (ProBan) was born out of the convergence of ideas of people who carefully observed our reality and felt the need to initiate a change in our perceptions and actions. By focusing mainly on our mining and forestry resources, we have neglected the immense potential offered by the land, the sun and the rain, particularly in the field of agriculture and its by-products.
It’s time to put an end to the costly importation of agricultural products when our generous land can easily provide them. Projet Bantu is therefore committed to becoming the focal point for the development of an all-round agricultural policy by developing the agricultural skills of our men and women through profit-sharing and training.
Section 2: The importance of CPAAD
On the strength of our vision, we have created the Centre Professionnel des Arts Appliqués et du Développement (CPAAD), a multi-pole centre covering three essential areas:
II-1. Primary (Green)
This is where we focus on agriculture, livestock farming, the processing of agricultural products and renewable energies such as biogas, solar and wind power. We aim to develop sustainable and innovative farming practices to maximise the yield from our land.
II-2. Secondary (Yellow)
This cluster focuses on mechanisation, manufacturing, design and recycling. We aim to promote a dynamic local industry that respects the environment, by encouraging innovation and making the most of available resources.
II-3. The Tertiary (Blue)
In this area, we are committed to developing services and new information and communication technologies (NICT). We want to strengthen the digital skills of our communities and facilitate their access to essential services.
Section 3: Proban’s successes and ambitions
III-1. Success stories
Over the years, Proban has achieved a number of successes that demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment. Here are some of our achievements:
- Bringing the Bantu Project into compliance: We have taken the necessary steps to comply with the laws and regulations in force in Gabon. This demonstrates our commitment to legality and transparency in all our actions.
- Securing space for the training centre (CPAAD): We have succeeded in securing a space dedicated to the course transmission facilities for our training centre. This will enable us to provide quality education in agriculture, animal husbandry and organic processing.
- Start of the agro-pastoral farm in Méba: We have begun the process of setting up our agro-pastoral farm in Méba (Méba is a locality located near Afagenzork and the small town of Nkan). The aim of this initiative is to develop sustainable farming practices and encourage responsible animal husbandry, thereby contributing to food security and environmental protection.
III-2. Partnership
Proban has established a strategic partnership with OIDESH Gabon, an organisation that shares our values and objectives. Through this collaboration, we are strengthening our joint efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices, responsible animal husbandry and organic processing. Together, we are working to empower target populations, equipping them with the skills they need to ensure their own economic and social development.
III-3. Proban and OIDESH Gabon in tandem
Proban and OIDESH Gabon work hand in hand to achieve a common goal: enabling target communities to take charge of their own future. By offering specialised training in agriculture, animal husbandry and environmentally-friendly organic processing, we help people acquire the skills they need to develop and prosper in a sustainable way. Together, we aim to foster real financial empowerment, while preserving the environment and supporting the well-being of local communities.
We are proud of our past successes and are determined to continue our mission by working actively to achieve our ambitious sustainability goals.
